Glam politicos mark 50 years of QMU

GLASGOW GLAM ROCK DIALOGUES: will play Glasgow QMU on 30 November (Photo: Julia Bauer)

by Voice Reporter • Glam provocateurs Glasgow Glam Rock Dialogues will mark 50 years of the Queen Margaret Union (QMU) building in Glasgow with a special gig at the venue on 30 November.

The QMU also wants anyone who has ever been to a gig there – fans, students, staff, musicians – to share ticket stubs, gig photos/posters and written accounts for a QMU50 memorabilia database.

The Voice sneaked into the Dialogues’ band rehearsals disguised as Suzi Quatro… to find they only get dressed up at gigs – or “dialogues” – where ‘live thinking’, ideas and debate are performed (and heckling encouraged), all abruptly interrupted when they launch into glam rock or other classic tunes.

The band will perform tracks associated with the QMU in some way, as well as their own Song for Guy Debord from their forthcoming 7” single and film.

Three women from various stages in QMU history will deliver speeches during the set.
